Documentation for Users

Katalyst Content provides a block-based editor for composing page content from items — text, images, tables, and layout sections — arranged in a nested tree.

States

Unpublished — the content has never been published. You can add and arrange items and save your work, but visitors can’t see anything yet.

Draft — there are saved changes that haven’t been published. Visitors see the previously published version; the status bar links to a preview of your draft.

Published — the saved content is live. Visitors see exactly what the editor shows.

Saving and publishing

Save stores your changes as a draft without affecting the published version. Publish makes the current draft live. Revert discards the saved draft and returns to the published version. Discard abandons unsaved changes in the editor.

Item actions

Collapse / Expand — hides or shows an item’s nested children in the editor, to make large trees easier to work with. Collapsing doesn’t change the content.

Indent / Outdent — moves an item deeper into or out of the tree, nesting it under the item above or promoting it a level.

Reorder — drag an item by its row to move it. Nested children move with their parent.

Edit — opens the item’s form to change its content and settings.

Remove — deletes the item (and its nested children) from the draft. The published version is unaffected until you publish.

Hidden — items can be marked not visible in their settings; they stay in the tree, marked with a hidden icon, but are not shown to visitors.
